GRETCHEN and Robi have the same keen sense of humor.

Ever since volleyball star-turned-TV host Gretchen Ho agreed to walk the ramp in a bridal dress at a recent event, she has been repeatedly asked questions about her wedding plans with fellow TV host Robi Domingo, her boyfriend of over a year.

(Last month, Gretchen was launched as endorser of Cardams Shoes in an event titled “United Fashion Show 2014,” where she wore a Nat Manilag wedding dress and walked the ramp with fellow endorser Richard Poon.)

The host of the sports news program “The Score” said tying the knot was the furthest thing from her mind just now.

“Robi and I sometimes discuss it, as would any couple in a serious relationship like we are,” Gretchen pointed out. “But it will not be happening any time soon. We still have a lot to go through as a couple.”

In any case, Gretchen already has an ideal wedding in mind. “I’d like it to be on the beach, or near a cliff. I’d like a sunset ceremony. I’ve asked a friend who is a priest to officiate. I’m a Catholic and I’m not sure if all this is allowed. I hope there’s a chance we can do it this way,” she told  the Inquirer.

What makes you and Robi click?

It’s our sense of humor. We’re both corny. I used to be very serious and guarded. He helped me loosen up with his jokes. He’s very malambing (affectionate). He will make fun of himself, just to make me laugh. He taught me how to have fun.

And  how did you influence him?

I believe I made him mature a little bit more. He tends to laugh off everything. He doesn’t like to dwell on problems. But as we get older, we have to be able reflect on the things happening to us. We have to learn from them. Robi and I balance each other out since we have opposite personalities.

What is he like, off-cam?

He is as super-makulit  (hyperactive) on-cam as he is off-cam. But he’s also kind and caring. He easily feels guilty when he feels he has done something wrong.

Are you open to working with him on a project?

We’ve discuss this, too. We avoid working together because we would much rather live separate lives, and then meet in the middle. It’s OK to work with him, once in a while maybe. As for a regular program, we will have to determine how it would affect our relationship.

How close are you to each other’s families?

He hangs out at my house a lot and my dad enjoys talking with him, especially since he’s knowledgeable about health. Both his parents are doctors. He gives my mom flowers.

I also go to his house sometimes. We have dinner with his family and, sometimes, I go to church with them.

Are you the jealous type?

It depends on the circumstance. I get jealous when there’s a reason. (It has happened before.) I tell him, “Sige, doon ka na lang.” To get even, I make him jealous by saying I have a crush on someone. It works every time.

How do you fight?

I stop talking and give him the cold shoulder. He will keep bugging me until I tell him what’s wrong. The day doesn’t end without us resolving the issue, which is good. We don’t let it last long.
