“I want to expose Thirdy to the kind of work that I do,” said actress Jodi Sta. Maria of bringing her 8-year-old son to work.
Jodi often works long hours on the set of the romantic drama series “Be Careful With My Heart.” Of late, she has also been busy filming Wenn V. Deramas’ horror-thriller “Maria Leonora Teresa.”
“I want Thirdy to always know where I am,” Jodi told the Inquirer, adding that, since the boy has become somewhat aware of the challenges in the biz, he is not too keen on pursuing the same career.
Good sign
She recounted, “I once asked if he wanted to become an actor. He said ‘No, Mommy, I only like to do commercials. Mapupuyat kasi ako.’”
For Jodi, this was a good thing because, she said, she’d rather have Thirdy finish school first.
She described their relationship as “very open.” She said she would make sure to keep nothing secret from Thirdy, especially referring to her relationships with estranged husband Pampi Lacson and her current partner, Bacoor Vice Governor Jolo Revilla.
Jodi and Pampi announced their separation in March 2011 and filed for annulment shortly after. Pampi now has a daughter with actress Iwa Moto.
“Thirdy and I talk about everything. I try my best to answer his questions and explain everything to him, even complicated situations,” Jodi said.
Late date
The actress said she meant to bring Thirdy as her date to the 2014 Star Magic Ball, “but the network didn’t allow it because the event would start very late, way past Thirdy’s bedtime. We didn’t want to alarm the Department of Labor and Employment,” she quipped.
Jodi did not ask Jolo to be her escort, either. “He was busy,” she said.
Although she refused to elaborate, Jodi did say she got to visit Jolo’s dad, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, who was arrested and is currently detained for plunder and graft charges.
Working on “Maria Leonora Teresa” is a breather for Jodi, since she has been working on “Be Careful With My Heart” for over two years now. “I was really excited to work on the film. I’ve been doing romantic comedy movies and light drama shows for quite some time now. I missed portraying offbeat characters.”
The movie opens in cinemas on Sept. 17.
