US films open, close CinemalayaX

MANILA, Philippines — Cinemalaya goes international this year.

Opening film of this year’s festival is Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas’ documentary “Documented.”

The docu follows the Philippine-born Washington Post reporter who outed himself as an “undocumented” alien living in the United States.

Closing film is US director Nathan Adolfson’s thriller “A Thief, A Kid and a Killer.”

The Korean-American’s indie film was shot in Metro Manila and stars Epy Quizon, Lance Raymundo, Felix Roco, Arvy Cesar Viduya and Jade Lopez.
