Silence is golden
Last week, we wrote about the power of the tongue. A loose tongue is a liability, but you can discipline it and avoid trouble by practising silence. Set aside 15 minutes of silence each day, during which you can meditate on spiritual sounds to help you focus.
The sacred names of the Supreme Person purify the mind and heart. Meditation can bring you to a higher dimension of silence and tranquility. If you practice this regularly, you’ll notice that there’s really no need to say much. You start choosing your words carefully and become the master of your tongue. Some quotes about silence:
Silence is a friend that never betrays.—Confucius
I often regret that I have spoken; never that I have been silent.—Publilius Syrus
True silence is the rest of the mind. It is to the spirit what sleep is to the body—nourishment and refreshment.—William Penn
I went down with the ship, but I kept my mouth shut—so, I didn’t drown like the rest of them!
