TAMBUATCO AND MACLEAN. Work takes a back seat.

The activities of Superbrand Marketing International chair Karl Maclean and his business partner, Harry Tambuatco, take a back seat every time they celebrate Father’s Day with their loved ones. They may be masters of market awareness, but fatherhood is a role they cherish more.

Superbrand Marketing has been honoring major brands in the Philippines for over 12 years and is now on its eighth edition. It teaches clients how to market their products and sustain the public’s interest in them. The company operates in 90 countries and is the world’s only global brand arbitrator. Its latest book will come out in October.

To become part of Superbrands, a company must pass a set of criteria that include market dominance, longevity, goodwill, customer loyalty and overall market acceptance in its field. Many of its clients post over 25 percent sales increases on their first year as part of Superbrands. According to Market Research, 83 percent of Filipinos prefer to buy products with a Superbrands logo.
