The Aguilar family feud rages on

/ 12:06 AM June 02, 2014

KA FREDDIE and Maegan, before the rift

Since the story of the Maegan/Freddie Aguilar family feud first came out in this column, I feel it’s my duty to follow it up.  Also, Maegan is my “soul sister,” so I check on her from time to time.

Father’s Day is just around the corner. I wonder if Maegan will set aside her ill feelings and greet her dad for the sake of all they have shared.

Here’s Ka Freddie’s (estranged) Anak’s update, which she sent  via Facebook:

“We have found a nice condo to move to. We’re eating and resting better. And, strangely, we are happier and more at peace being away from my immediate family.

“We intend to keep it this way indefinitely. And the best part of it all is my three  titas (Freddie’s sisters: Marlene, Tess and Aida) are all on my side, as they’ve always been since I was little.

“Lola Salud (Freddie’s mom) and my three titas were the ones who raised me. When my parents tried to take over my life, I was already 15.

“We hardly knew each other, but I now realize that I’ve always loved my mom more than my father. I just did not have the guts to say it before, but now I do. And as for his new wife: You better watch out because a strong typhoon is about to tear you apart. It’s God’s will that brought this storm your way …  not me.”

Brave bride

Tita Boots Anson-Roa is too happy  to be bothered by  the foreigner who had the audacity to insinuate that she was a “newspaper thief.”  The bride-to-be  was reprimanded by an Australian-Canadian neighbor for reading the papers in their condo’s lobby.

Tita Boots ignored the man because those papers were meant to be read by everyone.  She was stunned when the foreigner returned and hit her on the arm with a newspaper.

Ever so poised, Tita Boots didn’t lose her cool. She  told her fiancé, lawyer King Rodrigo, about the incident. Of course, King will protect his “Queen” Boots. His law office is going to file charges against the expat who seems to be clueless about the stature of Tita Boots in the industry.

But even if  she isn’t  an icon, no woman should be treated so rudely.

And now for the good news: Tita Boots and King will hold a wedding rehearsal dinner on June 10 at the new   Aristocrat Ballroom on Roxas Boulevard.

Guest performers are  The Rivers of Living  Waters Choir and Hot Flashes String Quartet.  It’s a running gag among her friends that the bride has remained chaste and is excited about their honeymoon.

After the wedding, the newspaper-slapping neighbor will surely get the shock of his life when he sees Tita Boots  in all the papers.

Sorry, Mister. She’s no newspaper thief. She makes headlines!

With the permission of King, Tita Boots allowed me to print his text message to her after the Inquirer’s  article about the condo incident  came out on Saturday:

“Righteous indignation! Tama lang ipaglaban mo di lamang ang iyong karapatan at karangalan bagkus ng lahat ng kababaihang Pilipina. Mabuhay ka! Lalo kang napamahal sa akin. Ginagalang at sinasamba kita, Boots.”
