Fernandez, who was born and raised in Hawaii but whose parents are both Filipinos, said he is thrilled to perform before the Filipino audience.

Fernandez has been singing and dancing since 1985. He sang background vocals for his brother’s album “Puede Ba” which was recorded in the Philippines.

In 1996, he said he first saw STOMP when his brother invited him to watch its show in Las Vegas.

“From there, I was amazed with their performance so I decided to audition in 1997 for the show,” he said.

“They saw something in me. I made them laugh. They liked what they saw,” Fernandez said citing this was the start of his career with STOMP.

“We make music with everyday objects. We use non-conventional instruments to convey our music,” he said.

According to him, their show would be “a performance of just making sounds and dance movements using non-conventional instruments.”

“It takes you to a musical journey. There is music in everything,” Fernandez said.

“I am inviting all our Filipino fans to come and watch our show. I will be excited to see you all there,” he added.

The STOMP, now in its 20th year, first performed in New York in February 1994. The group uses different objects including brooms, garbage cans and matchboxes in an energetic show that blends dance, rhythmic music and theatrical acts.
The STOMP show in Manila will be on June 17-21 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
