Bryan Castillo, 22, is Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles grand winner

Bryan Castillo, who lost 154 lbs. or 52.56 percent of his original weight of 293 lbs. prior to joining the reality show, was heralded the grand winner of the “Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” on Saturday night.

“I am happy to have made my family proud. I was able to prove to them and to the viewers that I’m strong and not easily disheartened,” Castillo, 22, told the Inquirer shortly after the show held at the Dolphy Theater inside the ABS-CBN Compound in Quezon City.

Castillo brought home a cash prize of P1 million, a business franchise package, a home appliance showcase, P100,000 worth of sports goods and accessories, as well as a lifetime gym membership.

Kayen Lazaro, 36, was proclaimed 1st runner-up after shedding 145 lbs. of her weight of 287 lbs. She won a cash prize of P500,000, among others.

Francis Asis, 22, who lost 149 lbs. from his original weight of 305 lbs. was proclaimed 2nd runner-up. He bagged P300,000 cash.

Osie Nobreja, Asis’ partner in Bagong BigaTeam, was given the 3rd runner-up title after shedding 133 lbs. from her weight of 280 lbs. during the final weigh-in. Nobreja, the season’s oldest contestant at 45, proved that age wasn’t an obstacle in performing well in the contest. She won P200,000.

“I’m thankful to God and to ‘Biggest Loser.’ If not for the show, I wouldn’t have accomplished what I did. I feel so light. I may not have
won the competition, but I’m a survivor of many illnesses. I feel as if I’m the grand winner,” Nobreja said after her final weigh-in.

For being the only pair to have made it to the finals, Nobreja and Asis took home double the value of the cash prize they won.

After leaving the “Biggest Loser Doubles” camp, the four contestants have continued their weight loss journey under the supervision of fitness coaches Jim and Toni Saret.

Castillo, of Team Magkapatid, was the first to get into the Final Four. “Before, I couldn’t jump. I couldn’t even cross my legs. Now, I
feel like can even fly!” he beamed. He said he would use his cash prize to help his family financially.

Iza Calzado hosted the finale titled “Bigating Pagtatapos” along with challenge masters Matteo Guidicelli and Robi Domingo.
