Malaya Watson joins Top 11 in latest ‘Idol’ results

MANILA, Philippines—Filipino-American Malaya Watson is safe in this week’s elimination round of the hit singing contest “American Idol.”

“Idol” tweeted on Thursday evening (Friday morning in Manila) that Watson dodged the latest elimination.

Last week, Watson landed at the bottom three but she was not eliminated.

Watson, whose name means freedom in Filipino, moved Idol judge Jennifer Lopez to tears with her rendition of gospel song “Take me to the King” on Wednesday evening in Hollywood (Thursday morning in Manila).

Sent to the bottom three this week were Emily Piriz, Jena Irene and MK Nobillette. Piriz got the lowest vote and was eliminated.
