Kaskade ends 7107 Day 1 with 90-minute dance music

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE—With a burst of fireworks, renowned American DJ-record producer Ryan Raddon, or more popularly known as Kaskade, ended the opening day of the 7107 International Music Festival at the Global Gateway Logistics City, with a 90-minute set of nonstop electronic dance music.
“My name is Kaskade. I came all the way from Los Angeles, so come on and sing along!” Kaskade screamed, turning the area around the main stage into a huge dance hall full of booze-guzzling revelers, jumping and pumping their fists to such songs as “Something, Something,” “Atmosphere,” as well as a club mix of Lana del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful.”
Saturday’s festivities catered more to partygoers, with the main stage being dominated by DJs and hip-hop artists.
Prior to Kaskade, acts like Kid Ink, DJ Riddler, Reid Stefan and Alvaro stoked the crowd with a heady dose of hip-swaying rhythms and ground-shaking basslines.
The scene over the smaller second stage, on the other hand, couldn’t be more different.
The atmosphere was relaxed, with that unmistakable whiff of weed from time to time. Most of the people simply sat down or lied on the ground as local rock and indie bands such as Maude, Techy Romantics, Run Manila and Taken by Cars performed.
Things only started to get a bit rowdy when Kjwan’s Marc Abaya took the stage and brougth the crowd to its feet with a set that included “One Look” and “Invitation.”
The crowd roared in approval as the frontman hollered profanities and poured a can of beer—tossed to him by a fan—all over himself.
Tonight, the two-day, Coachella-inspired music event will be headlined by the American funk-rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, Grammy-nominated hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar and Australian electro duo Empire of the Sun.
Big names in the local music industry such as Up Dharma Down, Itchyworms, Rocksteddy, Sponge Cola, Abra and Radioactive Sago Project are also expected to regal thousands of fans.
