V-Day with the Mad Man
What would Valentine’s Day be without a Martin Nievera concert? The Concert King’s countless hits have always been the favorite companion of every true-blue romantic Pinoy through all the crazy twists and turns of love.
This V-Day, Martin teams up with no less than Regine Velasquez in “Voices of Love” on Feb. 14, 8 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena (tickets 4702222/smtickets.com). Love has indeed many voices. In unison, Martin and Regine will make us stop, feel, listen and heed its call.
My tête-à-tête with Mart:
When the voice of love talks to you these days, what does it say?
It says, “After singing the soundtrack for other love stories, one day your story will have a happy ending, too.”

Article continues after this advertisementI hate that line, the show must go on. Because when we go through a personal struggle like Regine’s … we have to suck it up and dig in deep and give the performance of a lifetime.
That’s exactly what Regine will do. She is a total pro and she will use whatever pain and loss she feels today to do what she does best. She will make your hair stand! I guarantee it.
If Cupid really existed, what would you ask him about love?
Why does love make us fearlessly stupid?
What made your birthday memorable this year?
I hate birthday parties in my honor. I never enjoy because I’m too busy entertaining everyone else. When it’s my turn to get food, it’s either gone or cold already. I like working on my birthday. So last Feb. 5, in the afternoon I barbecued my “Bigmouth Burgers” for Regine, her baby Nate, the band and the entire “Voices of Love” production team. At night, we played bowling and had comfort party food at the Alabang Country Club. It was my twin sister Vicki’s idea so she and the “Ate Sisters” planned the whole thing. I’d rather Vicki set the party since it’s her birthday too. She deserves it.
You’ve been through all the stages of love. So what advice would you give married couples, separated couples and for those who are willing to fall in love all over again?
Married couples invite separated couples into your lives so that they won’t have to worry about falling in love all over again. Why not fall in love all over again with each other?
What have your sons taught you?
My three sons have taught me that love is forgiveness for forgetfulness. I am guilty of giving too much when I haven’t given enough.
Small but incredible
Big things come in small packages. Just like PLDT HOME’s tiny television box capable of accessing the Internet and networking with other devices. Small but incredible! It turns an ordinary TV into Internet TV with TVolution, the first service of its kind in the Philippines.
Since the largest growing audience is online, the time is ripe for Internet TV Revolution. It allows subscribers to stream blockbuster movies and TV shows straight from the Net, using their PLDT Telpad or any Android device as remote control.
“It is just the first in many technological innovations we are pioneering with, with the aim to give the best of communication, entertainment and multimedia on the Net through the secure platform TVolution offers,” says Gary Dujali, PLDT VP and head of HOME broadband.
Paired with the speed and power of a Fibr connection, it is entertainment on demand. Goodbye channel-surfing. Hello to the future of TV viewing!
Pinoy ‘PLL’
The hit US series, “Pretty Little Liars” (PLL) will have a Filipino adaptation soon on TV5. It is the first PLL franchise in the world. There’s great interest in doing a remake internationally but to date, Warner Bros. has said yes only to the Kapatid network.
“It’s one of those harmonic convergences when things come together nicely,” says James Kramer, Warner Bros.’ creative consultant.
Kramer will work hands-on with the network’s production, publicity, and creative teams to turn “Pretty Little Liars” into a Pretty Big Reality, the Pinoy way.
