The spotlight is on the Philippines at this year’s Vesoul (France) International Film Festival of Asian Cinema, Feb. 11 to 18. The fest website reports that 21 Filipino films from 1975 to the present, covering various genres, will be featured in a special retrospective section.
Holding their European premieres are Mes de Guzman’s 2013 CineFilipino winner, “Ang Kwento ni Mabuti”; and the 2013 Cinemalaya winner, Eduardo Roy’s “Quick Change.”

Mendoza’s “Foster Child” (2007), Raya Martin’s “Independencia” (2008), Mendoza’s “Lola” (2009), Red’s “Himpapawid” (2009), Chris Martinez’s “Here Comes the Bride” (2010), Auraeus Solito’s “Busong” (2011), Marlon Rivera’s “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” (2011), Mendoza’s “Thy Womb” (2012), Mendoza’s “Captive” (2012), Lawrence Fajardo’s “Posas” (2012), Adolfo Alix Jr.s’ “Death March” (2013), and Mendoza’s “Sapi” (2013).
