Hollywood’s A-list stars donned eye-popping gowns—with welcome pops of colors—on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday (Monday in Manila) at the Beverly Hilton in Hollywood.
But just over an hour before Tinseltown luminaries streamed in, a nearby water pipe burst, nearly raining on the fashion parade. Workers scrambled to mop up the mess.
The Golden Globes is the season’s first major awards show.
“American Hustle” star (and, in the end, best musical or comedy actress winner) Amy Adams was in a two-tone burgundy-red Valentino halter dress with an only-if-you-dare plunging neckline seen in the 1970s-era crime caper.
Red flowers adorned host Tina Fey’s strapless black Carolina Herrera ball gown with a long train.
Pop starlet Taylor Swift also wore Herrera—a strapless gown with a black bodice and a flowing red skirt.

Drew Barrymore was a blooming mother-to-be in a flowery Monique Lhuillier—whose fellow Fil-Am, Robert Lopez, got his own Globe moment.

Lopez, nominee for best original song (“Let It Go” from the animated feature “Frozen”), said he was having “so much fun” with wife and fellow nominee Kristen.
Basic black, a red carpet staple, had its place as usual.
Australian actress Cate Blanchett (who would win the best drama actress prize for “Blue Jasmine”) wowed in a lacy Armani. Rock star Bono called her “a goddess.”
Fey’s cohost Amy Poehler sported a sleek black Stella McCartney gown with a stomach cutout; “August: Osage County” star Julia Roberts picked a black-and-white belted dress from Dolce and Gabbana.
