Not that Vociferous Star is cash-strapped. Ever-so-enterprising VS has been asking for discounts when purchasing this or that property.
In exchange, VS promises to hype the hapless companies. After all, to be associated with VS is a brilliant marketing move (in VS’ mind).
This was the reason that VS once lost a prime project.
VS abused the kindness of various small entrepreneurs— asking for freebies left and right.
VS’ bosses soon got turned off and put a stop to the relentless freeloading.
But now VS has joined the major league—and is eyeing bigger ticket items.
Definitive decor
Remember how Popular Star’s questionable gender was betrayed by a memento in his bedroom?
PS displayed a rainbow flag—symbol of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community—in his inner sanctum.
Another Promising Cutie from the same studio has similarly telling décor at home.
Hanging prominently in PC’s pad is a portrait of Screen Luminary, famous as a gay icon.
Yet another Sensational Hottie from the same firm counts an LGBT legend as a role model.
Triple confirmed!
Unlikely underdog
Who knew Feisty Veteran had the makings of a real-life underdog?
FV, who was never known as a shrinking violet, fell victim to rampant politicking in the home studio.
One faction wanted to downplay FV’s billing in a high-profile project, so as not to affect its box-office prospects. (FV is allegedly jinxed.)
Another camp made it appear that FV was only a support player and built up Noisy Newcomer as main star. Poor FV was treated most unfairly.
Dainty much?
From the Inquirer Radio program “Inquirer Entertainment” (dzIQ 990 AM, Monday to Friday, 3 to 5 p.m.):
Hunky Star complains of the incessant “gay” rumors that refuse to die down. Sadly, HS’ latest project didn’t help a bit.
HS seemed too dainty and willowy in scenes that required raw machismo and brute force.
Ironically, HS’ former Leading Lady seemed more convincing and adept in her fight scenes in another project.
Ouch!
Footnotes
From the Inquirer tabloid Bandera:
Handsome Celeb has a nasty hygiene problem.
Turns out, his feet don’t agree with leather shoes. Every time he dons footwear made of animal skin, his feet emit a putrid stench by the end of the day.
During several shows abroad, costars who had the misfortune of sharing HC’s dressing room had no choice but to hold their breath when assaulted by the foul odor.
Upon returning home, in retaliation, the poor roommates blabbed about HC’s stinking secret.
Top of Bandera
The top show biz news in the Inquirer tabloid Bandera (and why we are moved, if we are moved):
Alma Moreno, asked if her marriage to Marawi City Mayor Sultan Fahad Salic had gone sour: “Nandun siya sa Marawi, andito ako sa Parañaque … Mahirap ang relasyon na sobrang magkalayo kayo. Wala akong masasabi, OK siya, pero ’yung sasabihin mo na katulad ng dati [’yung relasyon], hindi na, wala … Matagal na kaming ’di nag-uusap… pero wala kaming away.” (We should all take that as a maybe—or go mad.)
Camille Prats, asked if she saw herself tying the knot with her nonshow biz boyfriend soon: “I don’t see anything wrong with getting married again if it’s the right time, opportunity. For now it’s too early to tell.” (Take your time. We’re in no rush, either.)
Elmo Magalona, asked if he and Janine Gutierrez were in a relationship: “Wala pa naman.” (Wala pa. So it’s just a matter of time, ganun?)
Raymart Santiago, asked if he was hopeful that things [between him and wife Claudine Barretto] would turn out for the better: “Oo naman. ’Yun naman talaga gusto natin… at lumabas ’yung totoo … Ewan ko, wala na akong masabi.” (Come on, Raymart, let’s have more of those spicy quips.)
Jennylyn Mercado, asked if she still loved former boyfriend Luis Manzano: “May expiration date ba ang pagmahahal?” (Quotable quote! Pero afraid, ha?)
Xian Lim on spending Christmas Eve with Kim Chiu: “Wala kasing pagkain sa bahay namin.” (As good a reason as any!)
Kim, asked what’s Xian’s Christmas present for her was: “Shoes … May gusto kasi akong pair na nakita. Sabi ko dadaanan ko pero ’di ko na nabalikan. Tapos nabili na pala niya.” (Parang… boyfriend!)
Maja Salvador, asked if she hesitated about accepting the role of a mang-aagaw in “The Legal Wife”: “Hindi ako nagdalawang-isip. Artista ako. Maganda ang project, bakit ko tatanggihan? Ang layo ng character ko sa kung ano man ang nangyari sa ’kin sa totoong buhay.” (So, hindi true-life. Got that. )
Billy Crawford, asked if Coleen Garcia was the cause of his breakup with Nikki Gil: “Absolutely not … Coleen is not part of my past relationship at all.” (So he says.)
Billy on the real score between him and Coleen: “Niligawan ko. She’s not my girlfriend… yet. But I want her to be. I want to get to know her slowly.” (Define slowly.)
Kris Aquino on being told that son Bimby is a better actor than she: “True naman!” (Let’s not argue about this.)
