‘Nuwebe’ wins in Brazil

Pinoy director Joseph Israel Laban’s “Nuwebe” won the Youth Jury’s Mention of Honor at the 3rd Lume International Film Festival in São Luis, Maranhão, Brazil (Nov. 26-Dec. 1). The 2013 Cinemalaya entry also won best actress for child star Barbara Miguel (as local cinema’s youngest mother) at the Harlem fest in New York. Bayani San Diego Jr.
