In support of new screenwriters

ABAYA. Edge and depth.

Jayjay Abad, graduate student: “I avidly support Pinoy films. While other people have been wishing to see fresh, new faces on the screen, I’m hoping that producers would invest more in hiring talented, new screenwriters from whom seeds of good films and television shows can spring. I wish they would be paid and mentored well, because the industry is losing them to other fields, like advertising and publications.”

Sol Morales, televiewer: “I had a good cry watching an episode of ‘I-Witness’ recently. I sat through it, unmindful of its commercials and late time slot! Host Sandra Aguinaldo did a splendid job in presenting the story of a teacher who chose to teach the children of a tribe in the hinterlands of Davao.

“Going to school is risky for both teacher and students. They have to cross a river that is impassable during the rainy season. I wonder why no official has built a hanging bridge there  to make life easier for them? Shows like this should be shown at an earlier timeslot, so more viewers can watch them!”

Essence of Christmas
