I love music so when the opportunity to record an album came I grabbed it. Of course, I had apprehensions but they disappeared with all the support I got.

“If A Promise Ain’t Enough” because it says, if words aren’t enough, then my actions will show you how I feel.

What surprised you most about show biz?

That the job is hard. People think it’s all glitz and glamour but a lot of hard work is involved.

Do you feel that fame came too much too soon? How do you keep yourself grounded?

I  don’t think I’m that famous. My family keeps me grounded. To them, I’m still just husband to my wife and father to my kids.

How would you reinvent yourself when your Ser Chief days in “Be Careful With My Heart” are over?

I think the character in the next role will take care of that. As long as you play the role well, people will relate you to that character.

How do you make your wife feel secure now that you’re the fantasy of women of all ages?

I am? I didn’t know that.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Sweets. I love desserts.

How do you manage to age gracefully?

By taking care of myself and not abusing my body. Sleep, exercise and the right diet.

Would you be willing to do love scenes if and when you do a movie?

If they are really needed, as long as they are tastefully done.

What kind of a father are you?

I think I’m a cool dad to my kids. As long as I guide them and tell them what is wrong and right, I don’t need to be so strict with them.

What do you think makes you so appealing?

I have no idea, maybe it’s because I’m just being myself.

What makes you angry?

People who stab you in the back and bad drivers.

What’s the naughtiest thing you’ve done?

Secret!

How do you handle fans who are too forward?

With respect, but I’m quite honest with them.

How do you handle gay fans?

Same way as the women.

How do you manage to stay faithful to your wife now that you’re surrounded by beautiful women in the biz?

I am? I hadn’t noticed.

What’s on your bucket list?

To travel with my family to all the places we haven’t been to yet.

What is it that people don’t know about Richard Yap?

That I’m not comfortable being in the spotlight. I value my privacy and my space.

What was your most embarrassing experience?

It’s too embarrassing to say. Hahaha!

What has fame taught you?

It has taught me that it comes with a price and a responsibility. That we need to put it to good use by helping others in any way we can.

How do you like to be remembered?

As a good father to my children and a good husband to my wife. Their opinion is all that matters.
