Alice is tougher, wiser

“I HAVE learned to adjust and alter my perspective.”

Alice Dixson doesn’t seem to age. The original “It Girl” has not lost her charm.

After separating from her husband of 13 years, she does not only have beauty but wisdom, too.

Alice is tougher and fiercer but with the same grace and poise that made her such a media darling when her “I Can Feel It” TV ad was launched many cold showers ago.

FEATURED STORIES

And now, with that “feel it feeling” once more, Alice is all revved up for her role as a powerful and seductive “cougar” in TV5’s  “For Love or Money” (airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m., starting Oct. 17).

In the series, her character offers to pay P10 million for 10 intimate days with a man (played by Derek Ramsay), who is happily married. The wife is portrayed by Ritz Azul.

From her younger “Wonderland” days, Alice moves to “Cougarlandia.” Hear the woman roar!

What can we learn about love from your new series?

We all have choices in life—who we marry, our partners, our careers, our loves… We all try to make the best decisions based on the information we have when we have it. And, most of all, opportunity comes in different shapes and, like love, when we least expect it.

Would you choose love over financial security or would you rather fall for someone who’s financially stable even if you don’t love him that much?

My father worked hard for a living since he was a teenager. My mom, too, who grew up in a farm in Quezon province.

I grew up living a simple and happy life (but I had the) things I needed. As for the things I wanted, when I think about them now, [I realize they] were not important anyway.

Looking back, I always felt loved although we were not rich.

So if you were to ask me if I would fall in love with someone based primarily on financial status, my answer would be “no.” Of course, it would be a bonus if he had everything, but I have yet to find someone who shares my values and interests in life.

Do you have plans of getting married again or is once enough?

I dated a couple of guys who wanted marriage. I told them to look for someone else as I was not the right person.

At this point, I really don’t have much interest in marriage.

I would, however, like very much to have a partner in life, someone to travel and share my stories and memories with.

And my dream is to still have a baby one day.

What’s the most important lesson your ex-husband taught you?

He taught me a lot of things, both painful and joyful but too private to share here. I spent 13 years of my life with him. I think those lessons will never be erased from my mind and heart.

What’s your beauty regimen?

Very simple—exercise; drink lots of water; eat anything I like but in moderation; cleanse, tone and moisturize.

What’s your state of mind right now?

I’m very happy nowadays. I’ve always been a happy person by nature. There was a time last year when it became very difficult to cope and I was overwhelmed with responsibilities and problems, but I have learned to adjust and alter my perspective.
