‘Transit’ wins special prize in Busan

HANNAH Espia’s “Transit”

Filipino filmmaker Hannah Espia’s “Transit” wins special mention at the New Currents section of Busan. Top prizes were shared by the entries from Korea (“Pascha”) and Mongolia (“Remote Control”).  Runaway winner in the New Breed section of this year’s Cinemalaya, “Transit” is the country’s entry in the best foreign language film category of the Oscars. “Transit” tells the story of Israel-based Filipino workers whose children face deportation.
