MANILA, Philippines—The genres trance and house have risen above ground in the recent years as EDM effortlessly takes slots on the Top 40s charts. It’s been around for decades, but how well do really you know your DJs? Go through our list of his greatest achievements and gain a greater appreciation for this music maverick who is set to hit our shores this October.

A track record of turning up the trance, this Dutch-native has been producing music since 1994 under the aliases DJ Limited and Da Joker. After years of paying his dues in the industry, DJ Magazine proclaimed him as the world’s no. 1 consecutively throughout 2002 to 2004, the first and only artist to do so.

Within those years, he claimed many other firsts. He pioneered solo concerts for EDM artist, being the first to sell out a stadium in his mother country’s GelreDome, Arnhem performing for 25,000 people in May 10, 2003.

These days, being an international DJ seems to be synonymous with fashion collaborations. The love affair between fashion and music brought about this artist’s partnership with Giorgio Armani producing a limited edition t-shirt sold at Armani Exchange stores which was packaged with his single Sweet Things remixed by Tom Cloud exclusively for Armani Exchange.

His latest collaboration with clothing brand Guess launched his NYTLYF collection for Summer 2013 with the tag line: Fashion that’s meant to be heard.

Giving back to the community is also his strong suit, being named the official ambassador for the Dance4Life foundation, which promotes awareness of HIV/AIDS. In an effort to raise funds, he released the single Dance4Life.

With staggering success, the song peaked for five weeks in number 3 and eleven consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of the Dutch Singles Chart, it also reached number 5 in Belgium, number 6 in Finland and also charting in the UK and Germany.

He lives up to his song Maximal crazy as this DJ drank 31 cans of the energy drink RedBull in 2001 during a marathon set, setting the world record for most consumed in a period of 24 hours; something he said he would never reattempt.

One of the most sought out EDM DJs, this artist is none other than Grammy nominated Tiësto who is set take on Manila again by storm on October 3, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for his Club Life Tour with hits and crowd favorites such as Beautiful World, Elements of Life, I Will Be Here, Silence, Work Hard Play Hard and We Own the Night.
