Chito Miranda’s plea: Please spare my girlfriend
MANILA, Philippines—Beleaguered Chito Miranda defended his girlfriend Neri Naig in a Facebook post Thursday as he lashed out at those who have been posting hateful comments against her amid a brewing sex scandal.
“I don’t really care what other people think or say about me (that’s their opinion…and I respect that), but I do care about what they say about my girlfriend,” Miranda, frontman of Parokya ni Edgar, said in his Facebook post.
“I have one simple question for those who have a problem with her, regarding their self-righteous beliefs and opinions on morality, tastelessly expressed through their hateful comments: What do you do on your spare time aside from bashing helpless girls on the internet?” he said.
Miranda and television actress Naig made news when their alleged seven-minute sex video went viral. The singer-songwriter later apologized for a leaked “private video”, saying that the computer hard drive containing it had been stolen.

(To all those open-minded people who continue to show respect and love for us, regardless of what we are going through, thank you very, very much,)” he said.
Miranda shared that Naig spends time in her favorite Aeta village with her friends to bring them books and teach them how to read. She would also teach them how to write, bring them snacks, and play games with them.
“Not many people know this, but whenever she has time to spare, she’d go and visit her favorite Aeta village along with her friends, and hang out with the Aetas, simply because she enjoys it,” Miranda said.
“She’d collect and bring used, worn-out school books and read to the kids, trying to help them learn to read as well. She’d bring school supplies that were bought in Divisoria, sit down with the kids, and teach
them how to write their names. She’d bring snacks, and sometimes would even set up games for the kids in the community,” he added.
In a previous Instagram post, Miranda posted a photo of him and Naig together on a beach with the caption “Di n’yo kami matitinag.”
Miranda further said that Naig helps the Aetas even though her efforts have not caught the attention of the public.
“She was never applauded for this, nor was she famous for it, and also had no major reasons for doing it. No floods. No calamities. Nothing. She does it because she loves doing it,” Miranda said.
“Aside from fishing, gardening, and taking care of her pets, this is what she does on her spare time,” he said.
