‘Sapi’ premieres in Toronto

Filipino filmmaker Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s thriller “Sapi” premieres in the Vanguard section of the Toronto International Film Festival, to be held September 5-15.

“Sapi” top-bills Dennis Trillo, Baron Geisler and Meryll Soriano. The Toronto website describes the film as “a caustic cultural satire…(that critiques) the moral failings of contemporary news media” and Mendoza as a “Philippine master and festival veteran.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
