MANILA, Philippines—ABS-CBN prized talent Kim Chiu, 23, arrived in her hometown Cebu City on Monday to mourn the death of her mother, said a report from Cebu Daily News Tuesday.
Louella Yap Chiu, 50, succumbed to aneurysm, said the report by CDN correspondents Carine M. Asutilla and Michelle Joy L. Padayhag.
She reportedly suffered a heart attack before falling into a coma. On Sunday she was pronounced dead due to aneurysm, said the report.
Her remains were placed at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Nivel Hills, Cebu City, the report added.
The actress, whose real name is Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu, has been avoiding media interviews, asking for privacy. Media outlets were kept outside the chapel.
Kim had revealed in past interviews that she has been estranged from her mother since separating from her father William Chiu, when she was just nine years old. She grew up with her paternal grandmother and siblings.
Last April 29, Kim reconciled with her father, whom she hasn’t talked to in five years. The star of the recently concluded TV series “Ina, Kapatid, Anak” visited her father in his home in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, where he and his new family currently reside.
The report said Louella Yap Chiu will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 29, at CemPark in Banilad, Cebu City. With a report from Allan Policarpio, Philippine Daily Inquirer
