Carla Abellana disclosed that the divorce decree obtained by her former husband Tom Rodriguez, an American citizen, is now recognized by the Philippine court, about two years after it was finalized in the United States.
It can be recalled that months after their separation, Rodriguez flew to the US in March 2022 and confirmed their divorce in June of the same year. Abellana then said in February 2023 that she had already filed a petition before a Philippine court to recognize the divorce decree.
“We are divorced,” Abellana responded when asked about the status of her relationship with Rodriguez in the June 28 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”
“Recognized na po ‘yan ng korte, ng local court po natin dito. We haven’t spoken since. Hindi pa po kami nagkikita or nag-uusap… We don’t communicate anymore.”
The actress also stated that she has already let go of the anger she felt and has given forgiveness, but that she has not forgotten.
She further admitted that should she cross paths with Rodriguez, she would prefer not to interact with him — not even engage in a small talk.

Abellana declared she is currently happy, underscoring that she was able to recover by surrendering everything to God. She stressed as well that she has become stronger, wiser and, at the same time, vulnerable after her failed marriage.
“It was a difficult journey to get to this point but [I’m] confident to say na I’m very happy. [It was] a long, tedious, difficult way to get [here],” she told Abunda.
When asked about opening her heart again to another relationship, Abellana reiterated that it is not her priority at the moment.
Concluding the interview with another question, Abunda asked, “Now, are you free from the pain?”
Abellana, with her genuine smile, then answered, “[I’m] definitely free from the pain. I’ve let go of that already. Hindi na po siya nakakapit; hindi na po siya naghahabol.”
