When Martin Nievera launched his late-night talk show on ABS-CBN, hopes were high that it would make the neglected format popular again, like it was in the ’70s and ’80s. Sadly, however, less than robust ratings indicate that has yet to happen, so Martin and his show should redouble their efforts to tickle today’s viewers’ fancy.
Singer/TV host Martin Nievera turned to social networking site Twitter last week to express his “sadness” over ABS-CBN’s alleged lack of support for his Friday talk show, “Martin Late @ Night.” Slated for 13 episodes, the show, which started airing on March 1, had reportedly not been extended.
Eleuterio De Guzman, college instructor: “I’m delighted to discover that my idol, Martin Nievera, is back to hosting a late night talk-show. I think that is something he does very well. But to do better, Martin should push the envelope and start learning how to speak fluently in Tagalog.
The third telecast last March 15 of Martin Nievera’s new late-Friday-night talk show on ABS-CBN came off better than its premiere show, thanks mainly to its inspired choice of guest—former child star turned gender-bender, Aiza Seguerra.

Last Friday, March 1, we stayed up late to catch the first telecast of Martin Nievera’s new talk show on ABS-CBN.
