Vilma Santos extols Ai-Ai delas Alas for winning Best Actress in Cinemalaya

Actress Ai-Ai delas Alas continues to bask in her success after winning the Best Actress award in the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival last Sunday, Aug. 12. Delas Alas won the prestigious award for her role in “School Service,” a story about a syndicate of street children run by Rita (Delas Alas).
Delas Alas bawled her eyes out upon hearing the announcement of her big win and shared on her Instagram last Aug. 13 a video clip of her overcome with emotion. Many, too, are proud of Delas Alas’ feat, including Rep. and “Star for All Seasons” Vilma Santos.
Delas Alas shared on her Instagram on Aug. 14 a screenshot of a heartwarming text message Santos sent her after her win.
Ai…. yessss!!!! Congratulations my friend!!!!!! (Best actress). PROUD PROUD OF YOU MY FRIEND!” Santos wrote to Delas Alas. “Keep it up!!!!!”

In her message, Santos also apologized to Delas Alas for not being a “visible friend.”
“Soooo busy with Congress and Lipa,” she said. “Pagod na din beauty ko… Kahit ganito… pls don’t forget me! Love love love you pa din Ai!!”
Santos promised Delas Alas that she’d make up for it, saying, “DAMI KO UTANG SAIYO!! Hehehe! Babawi ako. Promise friend! Love you!” (I owe you so much! Hehehe! I’ll make up for this. Promise friend! Love you!
Delas Alas, meanwhile, was moved by Santos’ nice gesture.
“Naku ate Vi grabe parang naluluha ako naalala [mo] pa din ako,” Delas Alas wrote back. “Love you alam [mo] naman na idol kita forever alam kong busy ka… Sana nga madalaw kita sa Congress hindi na kita nadalaw.”
(Oh ate Vi I feel like crying because you still remember me. Love you, you know you’ve always been my idol. I know you’re busy, I hope I can visit you in Congress as I still haven’t visited you.)
Delas Alas promised Santos that she’d bring her lunch soon. “Hayaan mo pag next week nandun ka bisitahin kita dalhan kita ng lunch… Lam mo naman na super lab kita thank you congresswoman ate Vi…”
(Next week if you’re there, I’ll visit you and bring you lunch. You know that I love you so much, thank you congresswoman ate Vi.)
