Dianne Medina knows Rodjun Cruz is ‘the one’

In an age of temptations and uncertainties, actors Dianne Medina and Rodjun Cruz’s love story is an inspiring romance that’s one in a million.
Their relationship has remarkably spanned for ten years now. For others, it may seem too hard to keep but for Medina, the secret is simple.
“Understanding each other’s differences, and then respecting it, and acceptance” she said earlier today at the pocket press conference for her new movie “Awol”.
How they started
It all started when they met each other in 2007, when they were both under Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s exclusive talent management arm.
“Pareho kami n’un sa Star Magic. Prior to that napanood na daw niya ko sa ‘Wazzup Wazzup’. Sabe niya crush daw niya ko. I was 19 then. N’ung time na ‘yun crush ko din siya.”
(We were both with Star Magic then. Prior to that, he said he was already watching me on “Wazzup Wazzup”. He said he had a crush on me. I was 19 then. At that time, I had a crush on him too.)
Back then, they both worked with each other occasionally in Kapamilya shows like “Wowowee”. But it was when they ended up under the same handler that the romance started.
“During that time, itinatago pa namin kasi bawal sa Star Magic ‘yun eh. Wala namang gan’ung rule talaga pero ‘yung handler ko na lang din ang mismong may ayaw para iwas sa mga mag-aaway-away, eh bata pa. Siyempre trabaho muna.“
(During that time, we had to be hiding our relationship because it’s not allowed in Star Magic. There really was no rule forbidding it, but my handler decided not to allow any relationships among us to avoid petty fights. We were young, of course, we had to prioritize work.)
As everything slowly unfolded, Cruz and Medina became really good friends. It was after three months into their friendship that they officially became a couple.
However, their decade-old love story was not always too smooth, as how some may think.
“Marami ring mga taong may ayaw, may mga iba tinging three months lang kami, ‘yung iba naman one year lang, so nakakatuwa lang na umabot kami ng up to ten years.”
(There were also those who did not approve of us. Some said we’ll only last for three months. Others said a year. So it just feels good that we have lasted for ten years now.)
Evidently too in her social media posts, the PTV4 anchor keeps close ties with the Cruz family. She admits to be close with Cruz’ cousins, singers and actresses Donna Cruz, Geneva Cruz and Sheryl Cruz. However, she is closest to Sunshine Cruz.
Rodjun Cruz is ‘the one’
Being together for such a long time now, Medina is sure that Cruz is “the one.”
“I’ve invested so much time and emotion. I wouldn’t stay kung wala akong nakikitang future (if I don’t see any future),” she explained.
However, she clarified that they are not engaged yet, though she’s simply “waiting.”
“I don’t want to pressure Rodjun kasi enjoy siya sa career niya and sa life niya. Although I tell him I’m not getting any younger. I’m 30 so he better have to have a plan,” said Medina, expressing that she’s aware of health risks for a woman when starting out a family too late in life. “I just remind him but I don’t pressure him. I respect his decision and his timing.” JB
