There’s a new K-drama in town that you need to check out, and it’s not your ordinary cute series.

The Bride of Habaek” is a modern retelling of a supernatural romance, starring Nam Joo-hyuk of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” and Shin Se-kyung of “Six Flying Dragons”.

Habaek, or Water God, travels to Earth to seek help from his human bride, to search for the magical stone that could restore balance of power in the heavens.

Here are the four big reasons why you should put this drama on your watch list:

The story appeals to people who love mythology.

If you fancied “Goblin” and “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho”, “The Bride of Habaek” will pretty much rock your world. With a story filled with powerful forces and magical entities, you are in for a ride.

There is a fusion of historical and modern interaction between gods and demigods.

This year, we got a wave of dramas that mixed historical and modern settings. We’re always excited to see how new dramas will elevate this style, given that the previous dramas released have executed it so well.

This is Nam Joo-hyuk’s second lead role.

We all loved him in “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo”, and we won’t stop swooning over his charms (and famed abs) in this drama, for sure.
