Daniel Padilla nostalgic on Quiapo shoot: ‘Dun ako bumibili ng jersey ko dati’

Typically, individuals coming from celebrity clans follow the footsteps of their parents and join showbiz. They are also perceived to be living luxurious lives.
But despite having come from the famed Padilla family, Daniel Padilla, in his childhood, had a difficult life. He and his mother, former sexy actress Karla Estrada, together with his siblings, endured financial hardships.
Estrada had been open about the story of her family’s struggles. She strived hard to raise her kids. Before having the grandiose house that they own now, Daniel and her mom weren’t able to taste luxury.
Thanks to his fame and success, showbiz has transformed and financially secured Daniel’s life and that of his family.
Being an actor allows him to play different roles and go to different places. Some of the locations he goes to even hold a special place in his heart.
A recent location shoot he had in Quiapo, Manila, gave him the feels. Padilla admitted being overcome with nostalgia about the place which made him even more thankful for the life he has now.
“Nakaramdam ako dun ng humility (I felt humbled),” he said at last night’s press conference of “La Luna Sangre”, which he leads with Kathryn Bernardo.
“Nun na lang din naman ako nakapunta ulit doon. ‘Dun ako bumibili ng jersey ko dati eh,” he said.
(It was only then that I was able to return [to Quiapo]. I used to buy my jerseys there.)
He was even more thankful for his work, for giving him the opportunity to go back there.
“Babalikan mo ‘yung ganung lugar ulit, sarap,” Padilla shared.
(To be able to go back to such a place, it’s a good feeling.)
Daniel Padilla is Karla Estrada’s son with former action star Rommel Padilla. Daniel’s famous uncles include Robin Padilla, Rustom Padilla (now BB Gandanghari) and Royette Padilla. He is cousins with actresses Bela and Kylie Padilla. JB
