Zendaya Coleman, a Disney Channel teen star, will play Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker’s love interest in the much-awaited Spider-Man movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

According to reports from entertainment news sites The Wrap and Vulture, the 19-year-old actress will cast alongside Britsh actor Tom Holland, who was selected to portray the young Peter Parker. If confirmed, she will be the first actress African-American to play the iconic role previously played by Kirsten Dunst.

Last March, film studio company Sony Pictures and Marvel named Coleman to play a minor character, Michelle, in the film’s superhero reboot. The film will be produced by Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige.
