We asked the stars: Why should we celebrate Christmas this year after a string of disasters?

Because Christmas is the season of hope. That’s the one thing that’s left with us all—especially those affected by the calamities that happened this year. All we have now are the promise of a new beginning, the first step toward rebuilding, and the conviction that everybody is looking at the same goal.

We should celebrate Christmas because it’s the birth of Jesus. But our celebrations don’t have to be extravagant or expensive. We have to be sensitive to what happened to our people. Instead of partying, we can give back to our country. There are other ways to mark the occasion. It can still be fun and festive even if it’s simple.

Christmas, especially now, symbolizes hope for everyone. If we don’t celebrate Christmas, it’s like we’re giving up on life. We should rise after every fall.

We should go on with life and spend Christmas with our loved ones. If you are among those affected by the calamities, you should still celebrate it with whatever you have. Christmas will not be any different for my family this year, except that we’ve decided to hand over to YesPinoy Foundation all the loot bags we always give to street kids during this season. My mom also suggested that we visit an orphanage located near our house in Quezon City. Reports from Bayani San Diego Jr. and Marinel R. Cruz
