Jerome Ponce mourns death of youngest brother Omboy
Actor Jerome Ponce is grieving the loss of his youngest brother, Jesus Omboy Porciuncula. The cause of death is not immediately known.
Ponce took to Instagram on Sunday, June 14, to share a series of photos of himself and his brother together, including pictures of Omboy when he was little.
“Boy… mahal kita sobra, maaabot ko rin rank mo… hintay lang GGWP,” Ponce wrote in the caption.
GGWP stands for “Good Game, Well Played.” It is a traditional gaming phrase used to show respect, sportsmanship, and appreciation for the effort competitors put into a match.

Ponce’s mother, Gema, earlier confirmed Omboy’s death through a Facebook post on June 10. The family did not disclose the cause of death.
“It is with great sadness that we share that my beloved son, Jesus Omboy, is now with our Heavenly Father,” wrote the celebrity mom.
“We know that many of you were part of his life and shared memories, laughter, and friendship through the years. As we grieve this heartbreaking loss, we ask that you keep him and our family in your thoughts and prayers,” Gema added as she expressed her gratitude for the kindness and love shown to her family.
In a past interview with ABS-CBN, Ponce shared that Omboy was the closest to him among his siblings and that he’s happy his brother looked up to him.
“Pinaka-close ko sa family, my youngest brother […] Lahat ng ginagawa ko, gusto niyang gawin. And sobrang wala nang sasarap sa isang taong gustong umidolo sa ‘yo, hindi lang umidolo kundi to be a better version of you,” the actor said at the time.
Ponce rose to fame for his portrayal of Luke in the hit Philippine daytime series “Be Careful With My Heart.” He most recently appeared in the television adaptation of the Wattpad hit novel “I Love You Since 1892.”
