More than 40 years ago, comic actor Vic Sotto and Ice Seguerra first had an onscreen tandem. Sotto was already an established name in the industry, while Seguerra was a little charmer who made popular the duckwalk and whose witty remarks drew laughter during his hosting duties on the longest-running running noontime show, “Eat Bulaga.”

Sotto and Seguerra soon became an unbeatable tandem both on television and on the big screen, headlining a number of popular shows and movies together that were certified box office hits.

Fast forward to the present, Seguerra is now wearing the director’s hat, steering “Eat Bulaga” one week a month and calling the shots behind the scenes.

But the singer-songwriter who is now the executive of his own management and production company, Fire and Ice Entertainment, is taking this one step further by crafting a new movie that will bring him together with his onscreen dad — a collaboration that would showcase not just their comedic chops and dramatic synergy, but also their musicality. It also aims to reintroduce their onscreen chemistry to the newer generation of audiences.

“Dream project ko talaga yon, na makasama muli si Bossing,” Seguerra said, referring to Sotto’s moniker, during an exclusive sit-down interview with INQUIRER Entertainment and Bandera recently.

Seguerra’s wife Liza Diño said the movie concept has already been sent to Sotto for approval, and the latter appeared to have approved of the project.

“Hopefully, hopefully this will be approved for MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival),” Diño said. She said they are looking at a December playdate so that it could join the MMFF, arguably the grandest annual showcase of Filipino movies.

Seguerra said the movie will be a joint production of Fire and Ice Entertainment and Sotto’s M-Zet Films. Diño sits as CEO of their outfit, while Seguerra is behind the creative side.

In the movie, Sotto and Seguerra will play father and son, but the latter refrained to give more details on the plot so as not to preempt the movie.

Earlier, Sotto was reported to have been offered to make a movie with Vice Ganda, the host of “It’s Showtime,” whose timeslot on television directly competes with “Eat Bulaga,” but both camps have yet to make a confirmation about such collaboration.
