Despite the criticism surrounding the movie and its director, Kim Molina showed all-out support for her husband Jerald Napoles during the premiere night of “Love Ngo” on Tuesday, June 2, in Mandaluyong City.

To give way for her husband to walk the red carpet alongside his fellow cast members, Molina decided to walk with his “Momol Nights” leading man Kit Thompson and her director friend RC Delos Reyes, whom she and Napoles worked with on two previous projects.

Originally titled “Ngongo,” the film has drawn criticism on social media due to its apparent derogatory remarks and its director Darryl Yap’s polarizing reputation for his previous projects such as “Maid in Malacañang.”

The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) previously condemned the production of the film, saying its title and promotional materials appear to use derogatory language against persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Despite the criticism, Molina earlier defended Napoles’ decision to accept the project, saying her husband “wouldn’t accept a project that would degrade anyone’s well-being,” particularly people with cleft lip and cleft palate.

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board later cleared the movie for public screening after a “meticulous review,” stating that the film “offers a different perspective on the journey of the protagonist or a PWD the film portrays.”
