Girl group BINI receives House reso congratulating Coachella act

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine pop sensation BINI visited the House of Representatives on Monday to receive a congressional resolution honoring its performance at the Coachella music festival.
“BINI’s Coachella moment belongs to every young Filipino who has ever dreamed of bringing our music, language and creativity to the global stage,” Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos told the girl group, according to a statement.
BINI last month became the first Philippine music group to perform at Coachella in California, showcasing hits such as “Pantropiko” and “Salamin, Salamin” at the world-renowned festival.
Last week, the House adopted House Resolution No. 93 that sought to recognize BINI as the “Nation’s Girl Group.” The Senate earlier unanimously adopted a similar resolution congratulating the group.

Marcos said the lower chamber’s recognition of the girl group “carries a practical message” for Filipinos, showing that music and creative work can be pursued as a career and “source of national pride.”
“For many young people, BINI proves that creativity can be a path, a profession, and a source of national pride,” he said.
Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III and Marcos personally handed copies of the resolution to the eight-member girl group on the House floor, and were subsequently joined by lawmakers for a photo after the presentation.
BINI said they felt honored by the congressional resolution, based on an X post. “It is truly an honor to be recognized,” the group said. “We share this milestone with every Filipino who continues to believe and support OPM and Filipino talent.” /das
