MANILA, Philippines — A man allegedly broke into the home of “It’s Showtime” host and Rocksteddy vocalist Teddy Corpuz and stole several personal items, including an iPad, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said Thursday.

The suspect allegedly gained entry into Corpuz’s home early Sunday morning and was last tracked along Doña Isidora Street in Barangay Holy Spirit, the QCPD said in a statement.

“Upon arrival in the area, operatives coordinated with a local purok leader and presented CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage and a screenshot of the suspect, who was positively identified as Jerome Masbate, a resident of Barangay Holy Spirit,” police said.

“The purok leader then accompanied the operatives to the suspect’s residence. The suspect’s mother later confirmed that the person seen in the CCTV footage was her son,” it added.

In a video posted on social media earlier Thursday, Corpuz said the iPad had been returned after Masbate’s sibling supposedly surrendered it to authorities.

“The thief called his sibling and told them where he had hidden the iPad. So, we recovered the iPad earlier this morning,” Corpuz explained in Filipino.

He also said the suspect had stolen several rings, which have yet to be returned.

“That’s okay because the rings were inexpensive. Those rings were not real,” Corpuz said in Filipino.

“I hope the thief is caught, and that we all remain vigilant,” he added.

The QCPD said it had referred a complaint for violation of Article 299 of the Revised Penal Code, or robbery in an inhabited house, to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for regular filing.

Police added that Masbate had a prior robbery case in August 2018 and another case for violating Republic Act No. 10591, or the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. /mcm
