Bea Windorski’s MUPH win sparks La Union pride

CALASIAO, Pangasinan — La Union is celebrating with pride after Bea Millan Windorski clinched the Miss Universe Philippines crown on Saturday night.
In a social media post, Governor Mario Ortega congratulated Windorski and expressed the province’s full support, calling her victory a source of pride for La Union.
“With her victory alone, she has already done so much for La Union,” Ortega said, noting the prestige she brought to the province by securing the national title.
He also pledged strong support for Windorski as she prepares to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico in November.
“Bea deserves our full support as she carries the name of La Union onto the global stage. This will elevate both our province and its tourism image internationally,” he said.

The Provincial Government of La Union had earlier supported Windorski’s pageant journey, including assistance for her advocacy video and logistical needs. On coronation night, a busload of supporters was sent to cheer her on, reflecting the province’s “agkaysa” spirit.
Ortega said he first met Windorski during a courtesy visit in February, where he noted her sincerity and strong connection to her roots in San Juan, La Union.
He also congratulated fellow La Union bet Rachel-Hanna Gozum of Santo Tomas, who placed in the Top 30.
The provincial government is now preparing for Windorski’s homecoming celebration. /mcm
