Fyang Smith might be new to the teleserye scene, but her acting prowess in “Love Is Never Gone” caught the attention of her veteran co-stars Dina Bonnevie and Michael de Mesa.

In the romance-action drama series, Smith stars as Raya Verona, the youngest daughter of Divino (de Mesa) and Katarina (Bonnevie), known for her sweet personality toward her family but very upfront with her peers.

“Fyang is like my baby girl. Lahat naman ng nagagawa kong series, kapag anak ko, nagiging anak-anakan ko,” Bonnevie said of the “Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11” winner. “Fyang has a lot to offer. She has a lot to promise her audience. She is a multi-faceted performer.”

Bonnevie, who’s long known for being upfront about a co-actor’s professionalism, said that while Smith can be playful behind the scenes, she manages to be professional once the cameras switch on — and can even cry on cue.

“Kahit magulo ‘yan before the scenes. Alam niya kapag iiyak siya. Tinitingnan ko kung makaka-deliver ba ‘to. I was amazed that she could deliver. Sa mind ko, magaling ‘tong bulilit na ‘to (Even if she’s playful before the scenes, she knows when to cry. I wondered if she could deliver. I was amazed that she was able to deliver. In my mind, this child is good),” she said.

Meanwhile, de Mesa had high praise for Smith, noting she has the potential to win a Best Actress award in the future.

“Pang-Best Actress si Fyang. Magaling siya. She knows her job, she knows her character. Basta magaling siya in general (Fyang has the potential to be a Best Actress. She’s good. She knows her job. She knows her character. She’s good). She has the potential to be a really, really great actor,” he said.

Despite the praise, Smith confessed that she and her onscreen partner JM Ibarra were nervous about sharing the spotlight with screen veterans, though they’re grateful for how generous they are.

“Noong nag-storycon pa lang kami, grabe na ‘yung kaba naming dalawa kasi nga first [time] namin,” she said. “‘Yung mga co-actors namin, sobrang generous nila. Kapag kunwari nahihirapan or nade-drain ka, very generous silang lahat ng kasama namin dito.”

(When we had our storycon, we were very nervous, but our co-stars were very generous. When we have a hard time or feel drained in our scenes, they are all very generous with us.
