Sarah’s relationship with her parents has long made headlines throughout her career, particularly in 2020, when her mother Divine reportedly stormed into her wedding with now-husband Matteo Guidicelli. Since then, the actress-singer has not been on speaking terms with them.
Three years later, Sarah thanked her parents as she celebrated her 20th anniversary in showbiz. “Sa akin pong mga magulang, sa aking Mommy Divine at aking Daddy Delfin gwapo, sa aking family, my fur babies, my Viva family, ABS-CBN family, thank you (To my parents — my Mommy Divine and handsome Daddy Delfin, to my family, fur babies, Viva family, ABS-CBN family, thank you). And my husband, thank you, my love, Matteo Guidicelli,” she said.
The “Tala” singer also gave a heartfelt message to her parents during her 20th-anniversary concert that year, saying Delfin had influenced her love of music.
“[My father] taught me to dream big. Ang kanyang pagmamahal sa musika has greatly influenced me. As a kid, ‘yung mga musika na pinapatugtog niya every Sunday (My father taught me to dream big. His love for music has greatly influenced me. He would play music to me as a kid every Sunday). He has introduced me to different kinds of music,” she said. /edv
