Janella Salvador on status with Klea Pineda: ‘Kailangan bang i-label?’

Don’t expect Janella Salvador to put a label on her deepening relationship with Klea Pineda, saying that it’s her choice what details she wants to share to the public.

Salvador and Pineda are being hounded by dating rumors since the promotion of their Cinemalaya 2025 entry “Open Endings,” though the former said they never hid what they had as a pair.

“Hindi naman ako ever nagtago (I never hid anything). I just really choose what to share. And if there is something that truly makes me happy that I really want to share, I choose to share it. So, ‘yun lang yung naging basis,” she said.

When asked to confirm their label, Salvador said, “Kailangan bang i-label? Obvious naman kung anong meron (Do I need to label things? It’s obvious what we have). Obvious.”

To explain where she’s coming from, Salvador said it took a lot from her to discover how to express herself freely, noting that the Philippines is a conservative country.

“It’s not very easy for a young girl in the industry, especially in the Philippines, which is a very conservative country, to grow up in an industry like that. So it took a lot of ups and downs and maturity to be able to just realize that I can live my life, express myself freely,” she said.

Still, the actress-singer said she’s happy with Pineda.

“Just as long as I’m not hurting anyone, there’s nothing wrong with that. And if I’ve been happy recently, why not share it?” she said.

Glimpses of Salvador and Pineda’s romance have been shared by the actresses on their respective social media platforms, including dates to the US and Japan, where they were sometimes joined by the “Killer Bride” star’s son, Jude.

Pineda was previously in a relationship with Katrice Kierulf, while Salvador dated Markus Paterson, the father of Jude. /edv
