Senate resolution honors ‘nation’s girl group’ BINI for Coachella debut

MANILA, Philippines — A resolution has been filed in the Senate on Friday congratulating and commending Filipino P-pop girl group BINI for making history as the first Filipino act to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California.
Resolution No. 370, authored by Senator Bam Aquino, recognized the eight-member group for bringing pride and honor to the Philippines after its Coachella performances on April 10 and 17.
Coachella is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious and highest-grossing international music festivals, attended yearly by more than 500,000 music enthusiasts and headlined by global stars such as Sabrina Carpenter and Justin Bieber this year.

“BINI’s performance showcased Filipino pride through the use of traditional elements, including the salakot and tropical-inspired attire, as well as a fusion of contemporary and traditional styles in their costumes, music, and choreography,” Aquino said in the resolution.
BINI, dubbed the “nation’s girl group,” is composed of Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena.
The group performed a 10-song set featuring some of their biggest hits, including Pantropiko, Salamin-Salamin, and Karera, showcasing Filipino pop music to an international audience.
The senator also said the group’s achievement comes at a time when the country is facing various challenges, adding that their success offers inspiration and pride for Filipinos.
Aquino expressed hope that BINI’s Coachella debut will pave the continued growth of the P-pop industry and open more global opportunities for Filipino artists, while strengthening the country’s creative economy.
“BINI’s achievement serves as an inspiration to young Filipinos, demonstrating that Filipino talent can thrive and gain recognition on the world stage through passion, discipline, and excellence,” Aquino added.
Aquino said BINI’s success will encourage more support for creative industries as drivers of innovation, employment, and inclusive growth. /mr
