Marian Rivera to play ‘journalist and mistress’ in ‘Behind Closed Doors’

Marian Rivera is making a fiery comeback to the drama scene, set to portray the role of a journalist with an illicit affair with the president of the Philippines in the mystery drama “Behind Closed Doors.”
Rivera shared details of her upcoming drama at the Prime Video Presents: Philippines trade launch on Tuesday, April 14, where she was joined by her frequent collaborator, filmmaker Dominic Zapata.
“Ang character ko rito ay mistress, so first kong gagawin ‘to, and a journalist. First time ko rin ‘yun gagawin (My character here is a mistress and a journalist; this is the first time I’m doing this). Why not try something new? I think this is a good project for me,” she said.

Zapanta also expressed his excitement about working with Rivera again, noting that his last projects were with her husband, Dingdong Dantes. To note, Dantes and Zapata are collaborators in the Kapuso and Netflix drama series “The Master Cutter.”
Also confirmed to join the drama are Dantes as the president in a special appearance, and Jillian Ward, who bears the bitter aftermath of Rivera’s character’s love affair.
According to Zapata, he asked Dantes’ help in convincing Rivera to accept the lead role.
“Kinausap ko si Dong, ‘Dong kumbinsihin mo si Yan na gawin ang proyekto, napakaganda.’ Buti pumayag si Yan, very offbeat for her since hindi lang siya mistress dito. Mistress siya ng presidente ng Pilipinas (I told Dingdong to convince Marian to do the project. It’s really good. It’s a good thing she said yes. It is very offbeat because she’s not only the mistress, but she’s also the mistress of the president of the Philippines),” he told 24 Oras.
Rivera also shared in the same interview that playing a journalist is an exciting challenge for her, and that she would now be observing how they do their jobs moving forward.
Further details about the drama are yet to be revealed, as of this writing.
This marks Rivera’s return to the drama scene after “My Guardian Alien” and “Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa.” She is currently one of the “dance authorities” in the competition series “Stars on the Floor.” /edv
