James Reid has nothing but high praise for his “Someone, Someday” co-star Kathryn Bernardo, whom he described as hands-on in her work while remaining humble.

Since Reid and Bernardo came from highly popular love teams, it’s no surprise that they would get along while filming the upcoming drama. And true enough, the actor-singer enjoyed working with her.

“I think Kath is kind of who I expected she would be. She is incredibly humble, very talented, super easy to get along with, but that’s always how she has been [when we see each other] in ABS-CBN, ASAP, and [other encounters]. She is very genuine,” he said of his co-star on the sidelines of Sony Music Publishing Philippines’ launch event.

The “Sandal” singer said Bernardo respects his ideas and suggestions, noting that they had the same experience in the industry. He added that it’s something he really admires and wants to carry on in his next work.

“I love how hands-on she is, starting with the script. The team really respects a lot of my ideas and our suggestions, because of our experience. [With how] hands-on and how she knows how to work with the cast, that’s something I really admire,” he said.

In the upcoming drama, Reid stars as Jordan, a musician who is a “true best friend” and is supportive of his loved ones. Since it’s been a while since he acted in a drama, he has a lot of nerves going into the project, though he is excited as well.

“There’s been a lot of nerves because it’s been seven years or more since my teleserye. So, a lot of nerves [are] coming into it,” he said of his comeback during a Netflix trade launch.

“I’m very excited because we have such an amazing cast and directors. I have high hopes for this. I connect a lot with my character Jordan, he is a true best friend who always has your back,” he continued.

The actor-singer added that since Jordan is a musician, he was able to bring his knack for singing and songwriting into the character.

“I’m lucky to have someone like that in my life, and I can relate to this character. Another way I can connect with him is his passion for music, and I get to inject my own music into it, which I’m very excited about. I also get to write one song for the show,” he said.
