Marian Rivera on possibility of a dance concert, why she won’t stop grooving

Marian Rivera is open to the possibility of performing in a dance concert, as long as she’s joined by the contestants and fellow “Dance Authorities” on “Stars on the Floor.”
Rivera seemed excited about the prospect, especially since she was surrounded by Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Rocco Nacino, Paul Salas, Sugar Mercado, Chanty Videla, Alamat’s Jao, KAIA’s Sophia, 1ST ONE’s Joker, Calista’s Denise, and HORI7ON’s Jeromy.
“Sandali, ‘yung age ang pinaguusapan (Wait a minute, let’s talk about their ages first),” she quipped, noting that most of the contestants are younger.
“Hindi ko sinasabing hindi, pero kung lahat naka-focus sa’kin, definitely hindi ko kayang gawin ‘yan. Pero kung kasama ko [mga contestants sa’ ‘Stars on the Floor’], why not? Pero sa ending lang ako lalabas,” she continued.
(I’m not closing doors to the possibility, but if everyone is focused on me, definitely I can’t do it. But if I’m dancing with the contestants of ‘Stars on the Floor,’ why not? But I’ll appear at the end.)

For the love of dance
One of the reasons why Rivera was chosen as one of the show’s “Dance Authorities” was because of her personal history with it. Moving and grooving has always been a part of her, and despite taking occasional pauses, she would always return to it.
“Kapag nasa dugo mo talaga ang hilig mong sumayaw, kahit anong tigil mo — kasi ang dami ko ring tigil — kapag nabubuntis ako or nagre-rest ako, siguro pati na rin sa showbiz, kapag nagre-rest ako, umaabot ako ng four years para bumalik ulit ako,” she said.
(When you truly love to dance, even though you would stop at some point — because I stopped several times, too — when I got pregnant or I’ll take a rest, even when it comes to the entertainment industry as well, I was gone for four years, but I came back.)
After all, the actress said dancing will always be in her blood.
“Maraming on and off. Pero kapag nasa dugo mo talaga ang hilig mong sumayaw, sasayaw at sasayaw ka talaga. Love ko talaga ang pagsasayaw and hindi ‘yun mawawala,” she said.
(There were lots of on and off. But if your passion for dance is in your blood, you will continue dancing. I really love to dance, and that will never go away.)
This is why Rivera said one of the points she considers when judging the contestants is their sheer love for dance, as it shows in their performances.
“Honest naman ako. Palagi kong sinasabi na nanonood ako, gusto kong nakikita na nage-enjoy sila. At the same time, dapat tama ang steps nila, ang partner, nagsi-sync sa kanila, malaking points sa’kin ‘yun,” she said.
(I’m very honest. I always say that as an avid viewer, I want to see them enjoy. At the same time, their steps need to be correct. They need to sync with their partners. Those are huge points for me.)
Other “Stars on the Floor” “Dance Authorities” include Rayver Cruz and Jay Joseph Roncesvalles, while Alden Richards is the host.
The second season of the dance-centered reality competition brings together a pair — a celebrity dancer and a P-pop star — who perform different dance genres each week. /edv
