Marian Rivera wins Movie Actress of the Year at inaugural PAFTA

Marian Rivera’s portrayal of a teacher protecting the votes of her hometown and a mother desperate to protect herself for the sake of her son in “Balota” won her the Movie Actress of the Year award at the inaugural Philippine Arts, Film, and Television Awards (PAFTA).

Rivera tied for the award with Rebecca Chuaunsu at the inaugural edition of the PAFTA, held at the Centennial Hall of Manila Hotel on Saturday, Feb. 21. The awards ceremony honors actors, filmmakers, and writers excelling in their respective work in film and TV. 

“Balota” won Movie of the Year, while GMA brought home the Station of the Year plum.
