Sunshine Garcia grateful to husband Alex Castro amid Alvin Aragon’s criticism

After Alvin Aragon criticized Alex Castro for letting Sunshine Garcia participate in the SexBomb Girls’ concert, the actress-performer made a seeming response by expressing her appreciation for her husband for letting her “grow.”
In a recent DZAR radio interview, Aragon, the husband of Izzy Trazona, spoke about his wife’s decision to leave the girl group and to not fully participate in their recent concert — citing their faith as the reason. Aragon also addressed the supposed comparison between him and the husbands of the other SexBomb Girls’ members.
“Ano ba ‘yung suot nila? Ako, ayoko ‘yung asawa ko naka-towel lang sa poster,” Aragon said during the interview. “I want to protect my wife. Ako lang titingin kasi ako ang husband.”
(What were they wearing? I, for one, would not want to see my wife wearing only a towel in a poster. I want to protect my wife. I should be the only one who should see because I’m the husband.)
“Sinasabi nila, ‘Buti pa ‘yung asawa ni Sunshine, vice governor, pinayagan sila mag-concert.’ Dapat nga hindi e,” he argued. “Dapat nga, ‘yung asawa mo, ingatan mo. Hindi mo hahayaang mag-suot ng mga damit na para pagnasaan ng mga lalaki.”
(They have been saying that Sunshine’s vice governor husband even let his wife join the concert — he should not have allowed her. You should protect your wife. You should not let her wear clothes that will make other men fantasize about her.)
While Garcia and Castro did not immediately comment on Aragon’s remark, incidentally, days after the interview was aired, Garcia penned a message dedicated to Castro.
“Nagkaroon din tayo ng quality time. Hindi mo nakakalimutan talagang maging sweet, girl na girl ako,” she said on her Facebook page, showing moments from their Valentine’s Day date.
(We did find ourselves spending quality time. You really haven’t forgotten to be sweet; I really felt every bit a girl.)
“And thank you lagi sa support. Hinahayaan mo akong mag-grow at gawin yung mga bagay na makakapagpasaya sa akin,” she added. “Thank you sa pag-intindi. I love you.”
(Thank you for your constant support. You let me grow and do the things that make me happy. Thank you for understanding. I love you.)
Meanwhile, Aira Bermudez also shared a post praising the husbands of the SexBomb Girls members including Castro and Joshua Zamora.
“Grabe ang support ng husband ng mga Sexbomb! Pati sa sayawan ‘di nagpahuli!” she said, showing a clip of them playfully dancing during a celebration with their wives.
Celebs on Aragon’s controversial remark
Aragon’s recent statements drew mixed reactions not only from netizens but also from celebrities who gave their two cents on the matter.
Among them was Miss Philippines Earth 2025 Joy Barcoma who pointed out the apparent contradiction between Aragon’s faith and his actions.
“I respect religions and beliefs. What doesn’t sit well is when belief is interpreted in a way that leans more toward control than faith,” she said. “From his own words, ‘If you look lustfully at a woman, you are already committing adultery in your heart,’ the accountability is clearly placed on the observer, not the person being observed. Lust is an internal issue. It happens in the mind.”
“So when people shift that responsibility outward by regulating how women dress or behave, they directly contradict the very teaching they claim to uphold,” she stated. “Faith calls for self-accountability. Control demands compliance from others.”
IC Mendoza also appeared to have alluded to Aragon as he posed a reminder to “stop weaponizing Christian faith to hurt people and clout chase.”
“I am a gay guy and a Christian. Anak at apo ako ng mga Pastor. I practically grew up in church and my relationship with God is built on prayer and his grace, and not on other people’s approval did not choose between my faith and my identity, I can have both. Nagmamahal, Sexbomb IC,” Mendoza wrote.
