Filipino drag queen Marina Summers came out as a transwoman, revealing she started her transition journey in 2025.

Marina announced the new chapter in her life through her Instagram page on Saturday, Feb. 7, saying she had been waiting for the right time to speak about her journey.

“Since I was a child, I’ve always felt feminine—even deep into the parts that I didn’t always know how to name. For so many years, I poured that energy into carving a life that required me to move at full speed,” she said. “Becoming the person l’ve always seen myself as felt like something l’d get to ‘later,’ something gently pushed to the side while I tried to catch every other dream first.”

“I finally made the beautiful decision to begin social transitioning early 2025. A lot of you may have noticed how I changed the way I present myself,” she stated. “That journey led me to start my Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) later that year—and I would say it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”

Hormone replacement therapy, as per Healthline, is a way of replacing primary hormones present in one’s body to bring about desired changes to secondary sex characteristics.

Marina underscored that she chose not to immediately make her transition public in order to give herself the space to feel and heal “without the outside noise.”

“To everyone who knew me as Yan or Adrian, it’s been amazing but that chapter of my life is happily closed,” said the drag queen who was born Adrian Alabado.

“From hereon, I’d love for you all to get to know me more as the woman I’m becoming. Hello again my friends, it’s me, Marina,” she continued.

Marina noted that while she still has so much to learn, she wants to be more honest with herself and with the people who support her.

“Thank you for the love you’ve shown me so far. Thank you in advance for the kindness and respect you continue to offer. This chapter means the world to me, and I’m happy to finally share it with all of you,” she concluded.
