Feuding Barretto siblings reunite at wake of matriarch Inday

The squabbling Barretto siblings appeared to have set aside their differences for the meantime to come together with a united front during the wake of their mother, Estrella “Inday” Barretto, who died at age 89 on January 29.
A post on Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 1, by their brother Joaquin, Gretchen and Claudine Barretto could be seen having their arms around one another while viewing the coffin of their mother during the wake held at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.
“I love you both so much. Mom is smiling in heaven. Wish come true for Mom. Thank you Lord,” Joaquin’s post read.

Claudine also shared a clip of herself laughing while chatting with Gretchen in a Facebook post.
“I missed laughing with you & Dada Tony. My sister Gretchen,” she read, referring to Gretchen’s longtime partner, Tonyboy Cojuangco.
Another heartwarming moment was with estranged Marjorie sharing laughs with Claudine at the wake, as seen in the latter’s Facebook post.
“Oh Mommy,” she captioned her post.
The sisters also greeted former Sen. Richard Gordon and his wife Katherine, who went to pay respects to the Barretto matriarch.

Inday’s death was confirmed by Joaquin last Thursday, Jan. 29. The cause of her death was not disclosed, although photos on his and Claudine’s social media pages showed the Barretto matriarch going in and out of the hospital since October, and then spending her final days at the hospital.
Back in 2013, Claudine and Gretchen were involved in a feud that stemmed from deep-seated familial matters, although they have since made up six years later.
In 2019, at the wake of the family patriarch Miguel “Pyke” Barretto, Gretchen and Marjorie engaged in a scuffle that was even witnessed by then Pres. Rodrigo Duterte who was among the visitors paying their respects to the dead. The two sisters bitterly exchanged words on television and social media that scandalized the nation.
In June 2025, Claudine said that she, Marjorie, and her brother Mito had a misunderstanding, for which she sought legal action. Since then, the three of them have remained silent on the issue, even until the death of Mito later in that same year.
Months before her death, Inday and Marjorie traded a series of barbs against each other in public, with the former saying that there was a “rivalry” between her children. However, the two appeared to have patched things up, with Marjorie saying that her final moments with her mom allowed her to heal.
“I felt His grace most during a quiet afternoon a few days ago at the hospital, when I had my mom all to myself for a couple of hours. Just the two of us,” Marjorie said. “But the greatest grace was [two] days after, in the morning she passed away. I was in her room with only my sister Michie and Marichi. It was peaceful and quiet. A moment I truly believe God orchestrated and one I will hold close to my heart always.”
Meanwhile, Claudine’s rumored boyfriend Milano Sanchez also attended the wake together with his sister, veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez.
The two were reported to have parted ways last December, but no confirmation was ever made by the rumored couple.
The pair was believed to be in a relationship last October after the “Milan” star posted photos of them being affectionate with each other on Instagram. /edv
