Anne Curtis, Jericho Rosales get candid about intimate scenes in ‘The Loved One’

Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales said there was no awkwardness while filming intimate scenes for their upcoming film “The Loved One,” sharing that having an intimacy coordinator on set helped the production navigate delicate scenes.
During the film’s recent official mall show kickoff, the pair got candid about their experience filming intimate scenes as they marked their movie reunion after almost 18 years.
According to Rosales, their shared history helped create trust on set and made it easier to reconnect for the project.
“It’s nice to learn that we’ve made a good foundation in terms of working together. Hindi mo talaga alam kung kailan ‘yung panahon na makakasama mo ang isang tao ulit (You never know when the time will come when you will be with someone again),” Rosales said.
When it came to filming intimate scenes, the production tapped an intimacy coordinator, an approach both actors welcomed. Rosales described it as a professional and necessary step.
“It’s a very professional way of putting things, especially her job, whether TV or film. It’s very good not just for ladies, but for everyone because it’s very hard to mount scenes like that,” he said.
Curtis echoed Rosales’ sentiments, explaining how the coordinator helped remove uncertainty during filming.
“It avoids situations kasi na paano gagawa ‘yung lalaki kung hindi siya sure kung saan siya pwedeng humawak (because what would a man do if he wasn’t sure where he could put his hand). At least with that, you figure it out before you get into the scene. Alam niyo na kung saan puwedeng humawak (he knows where to put his hand), it makes everything easier,” she said.
The actress-TV host also reflected on how different things were earlier in her career.
“Nung bata ako, walang ganun eh [intimacy coordinator], walang ganun dati (When I was a kid, there was nothing like that, there was nothing like that before),” she said, prompting Rosales to quip, “Attack lang nang attack.”
“The Loved One” marks the third collaboration between Curtis and Rosales, following the 2011 TV series “Green Rose” and the 2008 romantic war film “Baler.” It also marks Curtis’ return to the big screen after a six-year hiatus.
The film tells the story of two former lovers who cross paths again after a long separation. It also features Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. It is set to premiere in local cinemas on Feb. 11. /edv
