Actor Edward Barber marked a new chapter in his personal and spiritual journey after he was officially ordained as a pastor.

Favor Church Manila announced Barber’s ordination in an Instagram post on Monday, January 26, naming him among the church’s newly ordained pastors and pastors-in-training.

“Last Saturday, during our Leaders Advance, we ordained our new pastors and pastors in training – acknowledging the call of ministry in their lives and commissioning them for the work God has entrusted to them,” read the caption alongside Barber’s photo with his certificate.

In a past interview with Bianca Gonzalez on “BRGY” in 2024, Barber shared that he realized his “calling” during a low point in his life and career.

“I really see my calling in ministry. It was really a moment when I thought , ‘God, I have everything that the world is telling me I should want. I have the following, I have the projects, I have the money, and I feel so empty,” he recalled.

At the time, the 25-year-old actor noted that he specifically wanted to be a lay pastor, typically a non-ordained, volunteer member of a congregation authorized to lead services, provide pastoral care, and assist in ministry.

Barber underscored that despite his work in the ministry, he will not be leaving show business, but the former remains his priority.

“I’ve seen hosting as my work, and I love it. I love the people with me. But at the end of the day, if I have to choose between the two, I will probably choose the ministry,” he said. /edv
